1. How many signatures can I fit on a plate?
This will obviously depend on the size of the plate and if your guests add a message as well as their signatures, but as a rough guide: dinner plate (30 – 40), bowl (70 – 80), platter (110 – 125.) These are only guidelines, however, and leaving a bit of space between each signature or message makes the plate look less crowded and it is easier to read them.
2. What colour pens are available?
We will automatically supply you with a black pen, but you can specify blue, red or green. Please make sure you state this clearly when you place your order.
3. Can I order extra pens ?
Yes. Additional pens cost £4.00 each. One pen should be sufficient for the dinner plate and the bowl, but we recommend you order an additional pen for the large platter.
4. How do I use the pens ?
The pens work just like a normal felt tip pen and you can easily write on top of the glazed plate. The ink will remain slightly wet for approx. 30 seconds, so allow a little time before the next person adds his / her message. If you make a mistake, just wipe it off and have another go. When everybody has finished their messages leave the plate for 24 hours before baking it in your oven at 150°C for 35 minutes.
5. How long before my event do I need to order the plate?
Each of our designs is hand-painted to order, so we suggest you allow 4 weeks from order to delivery. If you need it sooner, please ask us and we will always try to accommodate your needs. If we cannot guarantee earlier delivery, we will always tell you.
6. Is the plate suitable for everyday use?
Yes it is, although we recommend you wash it gently in warm water with a mild detergent and don't put it in the dishwasher or the microwave.
7. What happens if the plate gets damaged in transit?
In the unlikely event of a plate getting broken or damaged in transit, please tell us within 48 hours and we will immediately start work on a replacement free of charge. We will despatch the new one to you as soon as possible.
8. Will my plate craze over time?
Eventually all earthenware pottery develops very thin lines in the glaze, called crazing. This is perfectly normal and does not affect you using or enjoying your plate.
